| About Chondo |
"CHONDO means "drum" in Swahili, a language widely spoken in East Africa. The drum is one of the most important and ubiquitous instruments to be found in global black culture. Like the drum, CHONDO.NET aims to serve as an instrument of communication, unity, and celebration of the rich music and spoken word culture of African people around the world. We welcome artists and fans of global black music regardless of race, country, language or religion. Our catalogue focuses on the next great wave of talent, not major label artists. We cover all of the genres...from hip hop to neosoul; from blues to jazz; from kwaito to samba and everything in between. The bulk of our catalogue covers the five world renown music genres that were created by African Americans in the 20th century (jazz, blues, soul, gospel, and hip hop), but we include some independent music from Africa, the Caribbean, and South America. We are dedicated to providing a platform for underground musicians around the world to showcase and sell their music and spoken work content. All of our content is sold as MP3s and is compatible with all MP3 players including the iPod. You can burn it to a CD or play it on your computer or MP3 player." |
